Natalie Stone is a licensed massage therapist in Austin, TX. Here she is demonstrating Thai Message for women.
Thai Massage is a unique type of massage therapy. A type of Asian bodywork or body manipulation and usually done on the floor in a spa or parlor. The therapist uses their body against the other person’s body to stretch, relax and achieve a deep tissue massage. This demonstration is a technique called Thai Yoga Massage.
Hi, my name is Natalie Stone and I’ve been doing traditional Thai massage here in downtown Austin, Texas for eigth years right here at Twelfth Street Massage Therapy.
Today we’re going to be doing a demonstration of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage.
In Thai massage they really believe strongly that starting at the feet and moving up and out the head is a good way, that the energy moves from the Earth up toward the sky, so from Mother Earth up to Father Sky.
So we start here at the feet. Doing a nice compression into these reflexology points on the bottom of the foot. So there are many many pressure points on the bottom of the feet as well as the hands. You can actually help relieve many things by working just the feet. Back pain, sciatica, just the entire body is mapped out on the bottom of the foot.
With Thai massage, the therapist uses their whole body to really facilitate these stretches.
Again, just using pressure points throughout. This is called elephant walking. Very perfect for Thai. They really love their elephants.
I’m just walking along the energy channels of the legs. I’m just bringing up some of the energy here. Im just walking with thumb compression.
I think a lot of times we forget how much work our legs do for us on a daily basis so it’s really nice to give a lot of attention. You know, we hold a lot of energy here and so just to move that energy….
Ok, we’ll be here forever so let’s move on to some different stretches.
Thanks so much for watching.
